Empowering Women,
Eradicating Period Poverty

Significant progress was made in 2021 to improve menstrual health and empower communities.

Empowering Choice Through a Micro-Economy Model

Earn

Participants earn 150 EGP in coupons through educational activities

Activate

They combine those earned coupons with a personal contribution of 50 EGP.

Choose

Participants can purchase menstrual health products and educational resources that meet their needs.

Track

The model encourages meaningful engagement rather than stated preferences

In 2026, the Dignity Program introduced an Earn → Activate → Choose → Track model that promotes participant ownership and informed decision-making.

Participants earn 150 EGP in coupons through educational activities and contribute 50 EGP of their own funds, creating 200 EGP in purchasing power for menstrual health products and educational resources.

By combining earned value with personal investment, the model encourages meaningful engagement rather than stated preferences.

Dignity is not just receiving support. It’s having the power to choose.

The Early Results

Greater Ownership

Increased participant ownership and engagement

Better Product Fit

Better alignment between products selected and used

Reduced Waste

Reduced waste from unused items

Our NGO Partners

The model is being implemented through three local NGO partners – Impact for Community Development, Think & Do, and School of the Deaf – which are training facilitators and integrating the approach into community programming.

A Model Designed to Scale Across Africa

By combining education, personal investment, and informed choice, our micro-economy model creates a sustainable alternative to traditional distribution models.

The result is greater ownership, better outcomes, and a framework that can expand across health and social initiatives throughout Africa.
